Scotland for Decrim stands in unwavering solidarity with the people of Palestine.
We are a grassroots organisation led by sex workers and supported by our friends, family and allies, demanding and fighting for workers rights. We are a group committed to bodily autonomy, harm reduction, mutual aid and abolitionist politics. These values are incompatible with racist, genocidal imperialism and settler colonialism.
We witness the untold violence being documented everyday in front of us on social media, while mainstream media write headlines which obscure the truth, and politicians refuse to act to stop this horrific genocide.
We condemn Israel’s occupation, apartheid, and ongoing genocide in Palestine. This structural violence has been ongoing for decades and must end. We denounce the UK government’s participation in this violence, including its continued funding and arming of the Israeli military. We condemn the UK mainstream media’s complicity by rampant misrepresentation in reporting of this genocide. The use of UK public funds to support a regime that systematically targets, displaces, and kills people across Palestinian society, including journalists, medical workers, men, women, children, and elders, is abhorrent.
Among sex workers are some of the most persecuted people in our communities. The state persecutes the working-class, migrants, and sex workers of colour the most. We know that the systems that criminalise and endanger sex workers are the same systems that uphold borders, capitalist exploitation, fund imperialism and normalise state violence. These are not abstract concepts, they shape our lives daily.
We know that these struggles are deeply connected, and so our liberation is too.
As a workers’ rights group, we stand against the imperial and colonial brutality enacted upon the Palestinian people; and we are in solidarity with all others resisting occupation, criminalisation, and systemic harm.
We echo the calls to:
* Immediately end Israel’s siege, its apartheid system and occupation on Gaza
* Cease all UK government military trade with Israel and corporate funding and arming of Israel with the US
* Support the Palestinian-led campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) and take action against complicit companies
* Demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire
* Uplift and centre the voices of Palestinian people
Collectively, we will continue fighting until we dismantle the state’s carceral systems that criminalise sex work, and fund apartheid and genocide.
